People living in the cities have always depended on rural areas to provide them with their food supply.  However, it’s a fact that less and less lands are being devoted to agriculture.  And the main reason, is overpopulation.  Whatever land is  available and  suited for agriculture is not being converted to residential areas.  Since less lands are being devoted to agriculture, how can we secure our food supply?  The solution is simple, Urban Farming!

With Urban Farming, people in the cities will no longer be consumers alone, they have now the potential to become producers as well! And all they need to do is use whatever unused land area they have in their homes, such as their rooftops. Soil is not needed to grow plants, with hydroponics, all you need to have is a nutrient solution comprising of water and fertilizer to  grow you plants!  And if every rooftop is converted to urban farms, the city will no longer be consumers only, they can now produce their own food and increase their food security!
